Plyometrics, otherwise known as jump training is a great way to facilitate explosive power output. It's based upon the premise that when a muscle is stretched, it will contract rapidly. Hence, power will be produced, similar to an elastic band being stretched, then released. There are many parameters to this type of training including prerequisites such as, balance, speed, strength pre -tests as well as age appropriateness, body weight and readiness to undergo plyometric modalities. Therefore, it is always advisable you seek the advice and possible clearance from your physician, as well as train appropriately and safely with a trained, experienced, professional trainer.
