Sport Strength training is specific training used to enhance performance in the athletic, arena. Many factors must be taken into consideration when designing and implementing a "Sport-Specific," training program. These factors include but aren't limited to: The demands of the sport, the position the athlete, plays in that sport, the duration of the athletic season and the athlete's individual status, which may include body type, height, weight, muscle fiber type amongst others.
Sport training shouldn't simply improve strength- it should however, seek to improve the following: Power, speed, agility, balance, neuro-muscular coupling, flexibility, injury prevention and possibly enhance, rehabilitation as well as promote overall, fitness!
A good Trainer or Strength Coach will provide appropriate work- to- rest, ratios for each drill, lift and/or exercise, conducive to factors, aforementioned. He or she will create a fun, challenging and exciting environment-whereby, athletes are motivated to strive for their personal best(s) and feel accomplished, in doing so!
Therefore, I consider it imperative to have your child and/or athlete train with an experienced, certified trainer and/or conditioning coach (CSCS.)
All the best,
